We want your first visit to our office to be as comfortable as possible. Our goals are to provide you with the best dental care you ever received and to do it in a gentle manner. We strive to maintain strict infection control and we all have been immunized against hepatitis. We want you to feel relaxed, confident, and safe. We are not a dental clinic and we promise to give you personalized attention. We have modern technology, yet we have a gentle, human touch. We take many hours of continuing education to keep up-to-date. If you have dental fear, please visit our painless dentistry section.
HOW TO MAKE YOUR APPOINTMENT
Simply call (513) 771-2230. The best time to call is in the morning. We open at 7:30 AM Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. On Wednesday we open at 8:00 AM. For your convenience, we have early morning appointments and we work Wednesday evening during the fall and winter months. We are closed on Friday. We also accept most insurance plans. Our business assistant will answer any questions and will send you a Welcome Brochure as well as the following forms:
- Your medical history
- Your dental history
- Patient registration form
- Fear screening questionnaire (if you are fearful)
By taking the time to complete these questionnaires, you will help us to give you a very thorough examination. Please bring these forms with you at your appointment.
WHAT YOUR FIRST VISIT WILL BE LIKE
UPON ARRIVAL IN THE OFFICE
When you arrive, our staff will make every effort to make you feel welcome. We strive to treat you as an individual, not as a number. Our goal is to be prompt and not keep you waiting. Dr. Bob will interview you about your health and your dental history and he will answer any preliminary concerns you may have. Dr. Bob believes that each person deserves an individualized approach to his or her particular dental condition. He will take whatever time is necessary to get to know you and your feelings about your oral health. After this interview, we normally will take X-rays: a panoramic film that scans your entire jawbone and close-ups (called bitewings) for a more detailed view of your teeth and bone level. The bitewings will be taken on a digital X-ray computer that reduces radiation by 90%. We will then begin our exam.
YOUR EXAMINATION INCLUDES
We pride ourselves in performing a comprehensive oral examination that includes an oral cancer screening. Although rare, this condition can be successfully treated, if detected early. We also do a detailed survey of the gums, checking for pocket measurement, gum bleeding, recession, looseness, and any other signs of gum disease. We feel the chewing muscles for any soreness and check for any signs of TMJ problems. We look for tooth wear and evaluate the way the teeth bite together (occlusion). We also examine for cavities, cracks, and weak teeth. Finally we look at the smile and will advise you of what can be done to achieve an attractive dental appearance. If needed, we will use our intra-oral camera to display magnified pictures of your teeth or gums on our computer screen. This helps you to see and understand any problems. After the exam, Dr. Bob will study your findings and your X-rays and develop a plan of treatment best suited for your needs. Normally, you will be scheduled for a consultation appointment when we can discuss this plan with you. If your treatment needs are fairly simple, the business staff will explain the recommended treatment to you at this first visit.
Some patients want to have their teeth cleaned on their first visit. This may be possible but, if you happen to have gum disease (see our prevention section), a cleaning is not the treatment you need. If you have gum disease, it is our job to spot it and explain it to you so that we can eliminate it together. If you have your teeth cleaned, it is usually done by our dental hygienist, a qualified professional with a license to practice dental hygiene in Ohio. Your initial cleaning will include the removal of tartar, demonstration of flossing and brushing methods, polishing, cleaning of any existing dentures or partials, and a free preventive kit including floss and a toothbrush.
FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS AND INSURANCE INFORMATION
FINANCIAL POLICY
- For your convenience, we offer several payment plans. We also accept MC and VISA. We offer Care Credit, a health care financing program where we pay the interest and you can have as much as up to 12 months same as cash.
- If the charges for treatment are under $200, we expect payment on the day of service.
- All accounts are expected to be paid within 30 days of billing.
- There is a $15 charge for any returned check.
- If your dental insurance has not paid us within 60 days, you will be asked to pay the full balance.
DENTAL INSURANCE
- We understand the value of your dental insurance and will help you to obtain your maximum benefit. Dental insurance is not meant to be a 'pay-all'. Rather, it is meant to be an aid. We plan all treatment based on your dental conditions, not based on your insurance.
- It has been the experience of many dentists that some insurance companies tell their customers that their dentist's fees are above the usual and customary fees (UCR), rather than admitting that their insurance benefits are low. Our patients have over 500 different insurance plans and we know that each insurance plan establishes its own UCR fee range. Ask yourself: is there really any such thing as a true UCR? Please remember that you get back only what your employer puts in, less the profits and administrative costs of the insurance company. Please keep in mind that you, not your dental insurance company, are responsible for the payment of your account.
APPOINTMENT POLICY
- We request that you be on time or early for your appointment. We reserve time especially for you and we try hard not to keep you waiting. If you are late for your appointment, that means we run behind and cause others to have to wait. Please be considerate.
- If you need to change your appointment, please give us at least 48 hours notice. This will help us to fill your time slot. If you change your appointment on short notice, it is difficult for us to fill your spot

WHAT OUR PATIENTS HAVE SAID ABOUT US
It is difficult to put in words when we see the tears of joy from a satisfied patient. How do we measure our own feelings when a young lady with a stained, crooked smile allows us to do cosmetic dentistry that changes her outlook on life and lets her show her teeth when she smiles? We recently turned brown teeth into white ones for a 75 year-old man who found life exciting again. We guess the ladies started to chase him. All kidding aside, over the years we have seen the full range of emotions when patients in our office receive dental treatment. Here are a few of their unsolicited comments.
"I was getting to the point where I was very self-conscious when I smiled, and I thought then, 'I'm in trouble. Now I'm proud to smile again. After I came here, I felt free to talk about it because I knew somebody would listen. Once you find somebody to listen to you, then you can overcome these fears so much better." Mrs. Thelia B., ex-dental phobic.
"Everyone in the office always made me comfortable, as if mine was a routine problem. The appointments were prompt; it used to be during the long waits that I would build up a lot of tension because I had time to think about what I was going to undergo. Also, Dr. Kroeger talks very calmly during treatment and doesn't try to do too much at one time. He reacts quickly if I'm feeling tenderness and press the hand-buzzer; he really a painless dentist." Mrs. Dianne C., ex-dental phobic, with permission of the American Dental Association, JADA, Dental Phobia: Conquering Fear with Trust, 119: 593-598, 1989.
"I just wanted to take the time to thank all of you personally for the great care and fantastic smiles you have provided Liz, Anya, and Carly over the years. Thank you all very much." - L.S.
A card came to our office: "This certifies that Dr. Bob's staff is an outstanding dental team that is kind and caring beyond belief. ... signed, Pat G., certified patient. ... Thanks so much for making a wish come true."
"I read your book and will try my best to follow the advice. I wish all the dentists kept a copy in their offices. I'm going to suggest it to mine." Lori C., Wilmington, North Carolina.
